Sacred Heart Cemetery
Cemetery regulations play a most important part in the beautification and
preservation of the sacred resting place of the faithful departed. They are
intended not as restraining, but rather as defining an orderly plan of
operation, care and permanent maintenance.
All lots and graves in the cemetery shall be subject to these regulations,
amendments or changes as shall be adopted, and all lot holders and visitors
are requested to respect the enforcement of the following provisions.
General:
All financial business in connection with the Sacred Heart Cemetery must
be transacted with the Pastor of Sacred Heart Church, care of:

These regulations supersede all previous regulations. The Cemetery reserves
the right to change these regulations at such times & in such manner as the
Cemetery may, in its sole discretion, determine for the efficient & fair
operation of the Cemetery.
Graves and Lots
- All lots/grave sites require payment in full (normally 30 days after receipt of “bill”. Deed will be sent upon full payment. Other arrangements for payment are available upon consultation with the Pastor.
- Lot Holders will not be allowed to sell their “right to burial” their “grave site/s” in whole or in part, except with the written permission of the Pastor. A service charge of: $100.00 will be assessed. (Per grave site).
- Effective January 1, 2007 – The Cost for a Grave Site is $400.00 for a “registered” parishioner; $500.00 for a non-registered parishioner. (This includes perpetual care)
Interments:
- All interments are with the approval of the Pastor or his delegate and are subject to the rules & regulations of the Roman Catholic Church (Canon Law) and all applicable State and County laws.
- The Cemetery is open for interments year long, providing that snow, etc…does not prohibit entry and access.
- The present “FEE” for each interment is $200.00.
- Other questions regarding interments are to be directed to the Pastor at (652-7170).
Disinterment:
- No disinterment or removal shall be allowed except with the permission of the pastor, and a written authorization of next of kin. All proper legal guidelines of the County/State will be observed.
- Those doing the disinterment shall be required to use all due reasonable care. The Cemetery shall not be held or assume any liability for damage to casket or vault.
- The lot will be returned to its original condition after disinterment and/or removal of the remains.
- Disinterment will be completed at the time & date set by the Pastor and/or legal authorities.
- All fees are to be paid to the proper persons, etc…
- Additionally the Fee/Cost due Sacred Heart Cemetery is to be paid prior to a “Reburial” or “Removal” is: $200.00.
Monuments & Markers:
- Regulations and Rules for Monuments and Markers are needed to permit sound operation of the Cemetery and to insure that good taste prevails.
- Only one central or family monument shall be placed on a lot. (Other smaller markers are permitted).
- Monuments are to be of granite. No wood or composite materials of any kind are allowed.
- Monuments and Markers must be placed on a substantial concrete foundation due to frost heaving.
- Monuments and heights of monuments may be limited in certain sections of the Cemetery.

Flowers, Plants, Shrubs & Bouquets
To ensure ease of maintenance and mowing and for aesthetics, the Cemetery must regulate the following:
- The lot holder/agent is not allowed to cut grass or change grades of any lot/grave.
- The planting of flowers or shrubs or trees on any gravesite is prohibited.
- A maximum of two (2) bouquets may be placed on a grave or lot at any time.
- Two (2) potted plants or urns are allowed, one on each end of the main monument base. Nothing shall be planted in the ground at any time.
- There shall be no glass jars, bottles, Styrofoam, crockery, statuary, cans, vigil lights, ornaments, paper mache grottos, glass enclosed flowers, or any similar items. Such materials and/or containers will be removed.
- Artificial flowers are discouraged during the growing season.
- Hanging baskets, flower boxes are prohibited.
- The Cemetery is not responsible for any damage or destruction to plants, shrubs, nor breakage of any containers, etc…
- Flags may be placed for National Holidays, but will be removed after these days.
- The Cemetery reserves the right to maintain the Cemetery and to remove items, flowers, etc…that become unsightly or when they do not conform to the standards to be maintained.
- All are asked to take home with you for proper disposal any trash, etc…that you have or you may come across at the Cemetery.
- The Cemetery is maintained by Sacred Heart Church, grass is mowed & trimming done as needed, May thru late October.
- The Cemetery is traditionally cleaned up – “after the winter” & readied for the “new year” from April 15 thru May 15.
- The Cemetery is traditionally cleaned up – “after the summer” from October 15 thru November 15.
- The Cemetery is “officially open” from May 1 thru November 15.
- The Cemetery is “unofficially closed” at other times, although entry is possible, providing that snow, etc…do not prohibit entry and access.
- From November 15 thru April 15 of each year – One (l) artificial flower arrangement, wreath, or other decoration may be placed “on” the grave stone or on the gravesite.
- The Cemetery is plowed during the winter months, but only as needed and may not enable all cars to drive in safely.
The Cemetery reserves the right to adopt additional rules & regulations
or to amend, alter or repeal any rule, regulation, article, section,
paragraph or sentence in these rules & regulations at any time and without
notice.
